Brand New to The Forums?
Welcome to Runge's forums. These are intended to provide the users of Runge's software with a place to share techniques and ideas, as well as a place to ask questions of other users and Runge support personnel. To get you started:
  • These forums are basically a bulletin board. They are created by people "posting" items, either as responses to others or as new items. These new items are called "threads", and we organize the threads as a series of forums. So if you want to find information on XPAC scripting, you'd go the XPAC forum, then the Scripting Forum within there, where you'd find current posts or be able to add new posts.
  • To move between forums, use the tree at the upper left of your screen. If you click on the root ("Runge Forums") you'll see all the forums available to you.
  • To start a new discussion, you would click the "New Thread" button at the bottom of the list of existing threads within the forum. To create a new post, you'd select an existing thread and "Post Reply" to that thread.
  • When you create your post, you can easily attach files by using the "Manage Attachments" button visible under "Additional Options | Attach Files"
  • You can search the forums by the search button at the upper right. If you're in a forum, you will search the open forum -- if you are at the root (the Runge Forums level, you'll automatically search all the forums).
  • You can also use the "Advanced Search" option within the forum to search specified forums.
  • You can subscribe to a thread or a forum by using the button at the top of the "Forum Tools" or "Thread Tools" at the top of your screen. This way you'll be notified via e-mail when anyone makes a change.
  • Runge support subscribes to every forum, so if you post a question, we know about it immediately. We'll endeavour to give the same response to forum questions that we do to e-mails or phone calls so please look on this as a fully fledged support option -- with the advantage that your questions and solutions can help others later. Obviously, if you are asking a confidential question, the general forums are NOT the place.
  • There are a number of project forums whose membership is restricted by username and login. You will not see these forums if you aren't logged in or if you don't have permissions -- confidential data in these forums will remain just that.
  • There are a number of limitations on the size of files you can post. If you need to attach a file, your best bet is to zip it; zip files of up to 20 megs are allowed.
  • You can customize your experience a number of ways -- changing timezones, signatures, passwords, etc. Please visit your User CP (control panel) to see these.

We expect everyone to be civil to each other on the forums. Please refer to forum etiquette prior to posting.

Forum etiquette
In order to make your stay as pleasant and constructive as possible please take your time to read through this document, it will help you navigate the pits and traps this community has created for new members

These rules can be changed without notice though normally we announce changes via announcement in all the forums.

1) Read up before asking
  • There are tons of guides, FAQs and each forum has a dedicated Q&A thread with additional info.
  • Use the search function before posting. Your question may have already been answered.
2) Respect the netiquette: Lurk and get to know the forum before you post.

3) Keep the focus: Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved, locked or simply be deleted.

4) Be nice to each other and respect the moderator. Profanity and insults will not be tolerated. If you have a problem with another member turn to the respective moderator and if the moderator can't help you, send a private message to one of the administrators.

5) No warez, cracks, serials or illegally obtained copyrighted content! Links to content of a questionable nature, asking for, offering, or asking for help/helping to process such content in any way or form is not tolerated.

6) Keep the size of images and attachments down.

7) No cross posting. Post your message once, to the appropriate forum and nowhere else or it will be locked or deleted without warning.

8) Use a title that describes the content of your post. Don't use all caps or special characters to draw attention.

9) Do not send questions pertaining to topics of discussion on this board via personal messages or email to Moderators or Admins, they will be ignored.

10) How NOT to post on this forum:
  • 5 minutes after your initial post you reply to your own post writing something like "Why is nobody helping me? I'm sure you know the answer".
  • Once somebody replies to your thread but doesn't give you exactly the answer you've been expecting you insult them.
  • Do not ask "what's best" because this question cannot be answered objectively. Each and everyone has their own view about what's best in a certain area. The best is what works best for you!
11) The forums are in English – if you speak a different language, please let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate you via e-mail.

12) Multiple registrations are prohibited and are grounds for immediate account deletion.

13) Instructions by the moderator team are to be followed.

If you don't comply with these rules you'll have to face a set of sanctions.
