Default Preschedule Dump Block

Can you use a Preschedule or Mined out Quantities on dump blocks that have been filled before the schedule starts?
Otherwise I will resort to writing a script to zero out dump volumes for the consumed dump blocks.

As far as I know, the Preschedule only works for Deposit records.

In order to preschedule a dump record, you can either zero out the volume (basically not allowing any material to go to the block), or fill the block before scheduling begins. The latter would be the way I'd preschedule my dumps.

So if all of your dump blocks have a volume of 10,000m3, just place 10,000m3 in the fill accumulation field for the records which are already full. If some are only partially full, you can place 4,000m3 in those blocks.

The advantage of that is that in a Mine Status Plot, you'd see those blocks already filled (partially or entirely) at the beginning of the schedule.

The approach Scott sugested is definately the preferred one.

The reason we went for this option is that when records are being scheduled to dumps, XPAC isn't just accumulating againsts the blocks available volume. Its physically moving all the material from the source records to the dump blocks, just as if it was a stockpile. We can't remine the dump blocks (yet), but we can examine their contents and draw polygon plots that show what material was sent to each dump.

This functionality is very important in the oil sands mines (where the destination scheduler was first proto-typed), who have to place specific types of waste in specific locations within the dump. It's also valuable when modelling dumps with acid drainage issues and leach pads.

Cheers

Default Dump Block Pre-schedule

Hi Mark,

As Scott mentioned, we don't use XPAC's traditional pre-schedule for dumps. Instead, we must fill up some of the dumps available capacity.

Lets say you have a dump block with a capacity of 10,000m3. by default, its accumulation field will contain zero at the start of the schedule, indicating there has not been any material dumped in it yet.

In order to define that 60% of the dump block had been filled, you must enter a value of 6,000 in the accumualtion field for that dump block. XPAC see's the acumulation field is not empty and only allows the remainder of the capacity (4000m3) to be filled during the schedule. If you wish, you can also enter values for the quality of the 6,000m3 already filled - quite useful in a few specific activities.

Hope this makes things a little clearer, Alun
